Site work, stewarding and groundskeeping all come with a cap and an unwritten rule about what may hang off it, and a black clip the size of a bottle cap tends to pass without comment. The metal grips close hard enough on a peak to survive a day of movement, and two ounces leaves the hat sitting where it was put. Three speeds is the entire interface: low while talking to someone, high for the walk across open ground.
